Hi everyone been a while since I did an Authors Note and felt it may be time for a check in/announcement. If you would like to skip to the announcement it is in the last paragraph!
For anyone/everyone else, this newsletter has changed and grown so much since its conception, and I along with it! I’ve learned more about my communication styles, politics, and my own self. Recently Summer and Goddess Persephone have come out in full force, here in the deep south of North America. It has been absolutely lovely to watch Demeter and Persephone paint the Earth in shades of pastels.
I am still twenty-one, angry at my representatives, and a bisexual bitch. Here in my home state we have had more ICE raids and beef between the state and federal government. It has even been a topic of conversation within my family and we hate talking politics. To be clear these ICE raids are not political they are just sick and disgusting kidnappings happening in broad daylight, but certain people are seen as political pawns. Speaking of politics we have a protest coming up with UVOTN on June 14th which is incredibly exciting to help promote. The group has also shifted their focus to community events and not so much demonstrations; although we are definitely willing to piggy back off another event. No need to reinvent the wheel if we are all here for the same cause.
Switching to juicer topics, although my love life has been pretty unimaginative. The most exciting was the two guys I was casually seeing both practically dumped me, the day before my luteal phase. Nobody talks about how awkward that conversation is by the way. I have been the one to say it, and did it in person. These two idiots did it over text so I know they had to overthink it at least three times before sending it. I’ve also equated this crazy experience to Loki thinking he is hilarious which is possible. In regards to Ant Colony wise, things have been picking up speed but not always in the best way. We have enjoyed learning more about finding proper artwork, better writing, and more emotional topics. However, it can sometimes be hard to find good stories to cover each week. Positive change making has slowed down or become more discreet, at least in our political landscape. This can be good and bad at the same time. This may just mean more things are happening behind the scenes, which can work in our favor. We are also getting a lot of global news and historic events happening everyday, so there isn't much you would most likely miss for right now. Are we all collectively tired of dealing with living through historical event everyday?

Considering all that, we should discuss the summer schedule. Now that the weather is heating up, many of us will be heating up our personal lives. This all being said the Ant Colony is beginning summer hours May 29th to August 8th. This will act as a ‘summer break’ for our team. Summer hours for our readers means that we will produce a newsletter once every two weeks (release dates will be listed down below). For our volunteers, they will be unreachable on Fridays starting next week. Newsletters will still be set to release on Fridays to keep our Free The Ants Fridays, no changes there! If you need to get in contact with anyone from our team, please note the slight change in operational hours. We appreciate the patience as we move to this adjustment. We are aiming to use these summer hours to better our content and artwork; as well as give our team a chance to better their mental health. Thank you for continuing to march on ants, one by one we will fight fight fight <3
