Pandering Fool

When we talk about 'pandering' with politicians and their constituents, it can be a confusing line to tow. According to Webster pandering is "to say, do, or provide what someone (such as an audience) wants or demands even though it is not good, proper, reasonable, etc"; which seems subjective. The first half of the definition does sound like a leader or politician, giving into the demands of the people. The second half is where things get more subjective. Who defines what is reasonable, good, or proper? What if you just don't agree with their view?

Pandering is easy to accuse when you are listening to unrealistic promises made by a politician in tv show or movies. This is typically where you see a white guy in a nice suite promise something to one minority group, and then promise it to another minority group just to gain their vote. Ding, Ding, Ding, yes this happens a lot more than we all like to consider. This is a bi-partisan issue, so what's the solution? A little bit of trust and pixie dust, I'm afraid. AOC has certified she will not take any donations from any organizations. Even that is something that has been called into question by many people, due to her silence on this matter since 2022. We may have lost AOC but we can't lose hope for the next generation. We can keep them in check as long as we are in check with our government, as best we can do with the current information.

The current information being financial disclosures that were required of representatives this past March. Many people saw on financial disclosures which Republicans benefited from the Dow dropping sharp on April 8th and then shooting up. Some Americans believe politicians will be corrupt as long as they get any donations, but that discredits the less equipped leaders who can financially get any funds from local donations. Previously reported on Kat Abughazaleh who is running for Congress has also used only donations to fund their campaign. These people are using Act Blue which has been now threatened by the Trump administration.

A group will always need a "speaker" or leader simply to speak for the group. This leader can still engage in barter/trade or society while still being a leader. Most state assemblies are part time so the representatives still work a second job. When it comes to Federal level employees the salary gets lesser and lesser. I wonder if governmental leaders realize they can review the budget and make sure everyone is paid a living wage so donations aren't needed? People will have distrust in the government no matter what, and a healthy table spoon of it isn't a bad thing.
